             Handout 1.3                             Emotional Intelligence of Leader


             Objective:          -     To understand what is the EQ

                                 -     To practice key skills of EQ

             Duration:          30 min                                                  local-community-leaders.eu

             Grup Size:         Between 15-20

             Required           Flipchart, white paper, sheets, EQ cards, writing instruments, video

             Items:             projector and laptop, internet connection.


             Step by steps         1.  The trainer briefly  presents the meaning and the dimensions
             instructions:         of EQ:


                                       - Self-management

                                       - Self-awareness

                                       - Social awareness

                                       - Relationship management

                                   2.  Then, the whole  group is splitted in 4 sub-groups and each

                                   one receives one card.

                                   3.  Each group retreats to a corner of the room where, for 10

                                   minutes, they read and discuss the material received. The

                                   information is written on the back of the card. Discussions are

                                   focused on how to present this dimension to other groups so that

                                   it can be easily understood. Groups build a mental map about

                                   the size discussed. One representative is chosen who will be the

                                   "expert" in the studied dimension. When the time expires,

                                   groups meet and each expert presents the studied dimension.
                                   Other participants, from the other groups, will ask questions

                                   until they fully clarify all the dimensions. On a flipchart sheet

                                   are written some ideas for each dimension presented.
