A follower is a person who is influenced by a leader. At the same time, a follower is not
a "yes man" because he/she, in turn, influences the leader. A good follower is a person
who says what he thinks, gives correct feedback and influences the leader. An effective
follower shares what he/she thinks with the leader.
The essence of leadership is influence. It involves the process by which the leader
communicates the ideas and these ideas are accepted by the community, which supports
the leader in their implementation. The influence is highlighted by the leader-follower
relationship. Leaders and followers often change roles in the influence process.
The community objectives can be achieved through the joint work of the leader and the
other members / followers. The leader is the one who shows the direction, but together
with the followers he sets the objectives.
A community cannot go forward only by preserving the status quo. It's about the vision

of the leader to introduce the change and about his ability to present this change which
is absolutely necessary and possible.
The greatest resource of any community is people. Being a good leader means loving
people and knowing how to work with them. An effective leadership means
appreciating people's capabilities and putting them at the service of achieving
community goal. local-community-leaders.eu/
Community leadership has other nuances than the classical notion of being "about"
leaders "who solicit, convince and influence" followers ". According to Onyx and
Leonard (2011), community leadership does not have hierarchies and is carried out
through voluntary actions, which lead to the creation of social capital being a factor in
promoting change. Community leaders are, most often, informal leaders, unelected but
self-entitled.
