Handout 5.7 Head, Heart, Gut: What Motivates Me
Objective: to understand what drives people, build group cohesion, get people
thinking about sharing what’s important to them.
Duration: 30 minutes
Group Size: around 15 people
Required printed picture no. 3 for each participant of the training, writing

Step by steps 1.Trainer hands out sheets of papers with a person outline (picture
instructions: no.3) and asks the group a question: "Why do you want to be a
mentor of local community leaders?".
2. Trainer explains the meaning behind each part of the body:
⎯ Heart: what feelings motivate me to be a mentor?
⎯ Belly: How does this issue affect me personally?

⎯ Hands: what do I need to be effective?
⎯ Legs: what do I like to do?
3. During this exercise, the participants' task is to write down their
answers on the picture they received.
